Welcome to Cognitive AI Coach. We are committed to transparency and protecting your privacy. This policy provides a detailed explanation of what data we process, why we process it, and—most importantly—how we protect it by not storing it.

Our guiding principle is "ephemeral processing." This means we process data live to provide our services, but we do not store your personal communications. What's yours stays yours.

1. Data We Process (And Why)

To provide real-time AI assistance, we must process certain data. This processing only occurs when you are actively using the extension on a tab.

Personal Communications (Audio & Text)

This is the core data required for the extension to function. It includes:

Tab Audio Stream: We use the tabCapture permission to access the audio playing in your active tab. This is necessary to provide our "Live Subtitles" feature for videos, meetings, or any other audio source.
Microphone Audio Stream: We only access your microphone if you explicitly click the "mic" button inside our chat panel. This is used for the "Ask AI" feature, allowing you to speak your question instead of typing it. We are not listening at any other time.
Text Transcripts: The audio streams are converted into text transcripts. This text is then used to display subtitles and to be analyzed by our AI for the Q&A feature.

2. How We Use and Share Your Data

We are not an AI company; we are a "coach." We provide the interface and the logic that connects you to best-in-class AI services. To make our features work, we must securely send your data to these third-party partners.

For Speech-to-Text (Deepgram): All audio (from your tab or mic) is securely streamed to Deepgram's API. Deepgram performs the speech-to-text conversion and sends back a text transcript.
For Question Detection (Hugging Face): To be smart and cost-effective, we first analyze transcripts using a lightweight AI model from Hugging Face to determine if a sentence is a question.
For AI Answers (Google Gemini): When a question is detected (or you manually ask one), the text of that question *and* the text of the recent conversation history is sent to the Google Gemini API. This provides the AI with the necessary context to generate a high-quality, relevant answer.

Important: We only send the minimum data necessary for the feature to work. For example, we only send text to Google Gemini (not audio) and only when a question is confirmed.

3. Our Data Storage and Security Policy

This is the most important part of our commitment to your privacy. We designed our system to be non-persistent by default.

We DO NOT Store Your Personal Data

No Audio Storage: We never save, log, or store any audio files from your tab or microphone. The audio is streamed directly to our speech-to-text partner, processed, and then immediately discarded.
No Permanent Transcript Storage: We do not save your meeting transcripts or conversation histories to any database or permanent storage.

What We DO Store (Temporarily)

Ephemeral In-Memory Cache: To provide the "Oracle" (our Gemini AI) with context, we keep a rolling, short-term history of the recent conversation text in our server's active memory.
How it Works: This cache exists *only* while your extension is actively connected to our service. The moment you close the tab or disable the extension, this in-memory cache is instantly and irretrievably erased.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures. All communication between your extension, our backend, and our third-party AI partners is encrypted using modern cryptography (e.g., HTTPS and Secure WebSockets). Your data is private in transit.

4. Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data.

You can stop the "Live Subtitles" at any time by disabling the feature in the extension UI.
You only share microphone data when you voluntarily click the mic button.
You can stop all data processing at any time by simply closing the tab or disabling the extension.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy as our services evolve. If we make significant changes, we will notify users. All updates will be posted on this page.
